The Coal Heritage Museum is dedicated to preserving the heritage of the Southern West Virginia coalfields by showing mining tools, photographs, oral history tapes, company records, and other pieces of the state’s mining history.

Seasonal Activities

West Virginia Coal Festival – This celebration surrounding the coal that powers WV is typically held in June. The festivities and fair take place in the main part of Madison by the courthouse and downtown Madison.

Merry Madison Christmas Celebration – This celebration is in partnership with the Boone Memorial Hospital regarding the holiday season. There was a tree-lighting ceremony, ice skating, and more. The event lasted from November 30th through December 31st.


Rev-Up Cruise In – This celebration is held by a local entity, Rev-Up Madison. The classic car show is held in downtown Madison at the end of Main Street. There are class cars from eras gone by.
